Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) slammed President Barack Obama on Friday over Obama?s dismissal of Republican criticism, accusing his administration of not taking responsibility for its policy decisions.
?It is dismissive. It is insulting. It is minimizing,? Bachmann told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren. ?It?s not validating the concerns that people have.?
The Huffington Post reported that Obama?s remark came during a July 24 speech at Knox College in Galesburg, IL, asking Republicans to stop an ?endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals.?
?Clearly, what we?ve seen for five years now, this administration, is they have a complete inability to take personal responsibility for their actions and their policy decisions,? Bachmann told Van Susteren. ?These are ramifications, many of which come directly from their decisions, whether it?s from the administration or whether it?s from some of their political operatives that have also had impact on these decisions.?
According to The Hill, Bachmann also said she would ?love? for the Internal Revenue Service to be dissolved, arguing that the ensuing tax reform would stimulate small businesses.
?We could go with a fair tax, which is a national sales tax, which is a viable option, and the positive is that everyone would participate in a tax system to the measure of their spending in the economy,? Bachmann argued. ?Or you could go with a flat tax, where everyone pays the same rate. That?s true fairness in the tax code.?
Bachmann is serving out her final term in office, having announced on March 29 that she would not seek re-election, less than a week after being targeted in an ethics investigation related to her failed 2012 presidential campaign.
