Now all the trash talk of fragmentation can stop. 4.1 is decent enough for mid tier phones. 4.2 is luxury still.

I wonder how big is the percentage of phones that run a custom rom.. Any way to check that?

I expect this holiday season will lead to another big dropoff in Gingerbread usage, and with even budget Android devices at least running decently, I don't think that's going to be the result of a mass exodus to iPhones. We're coming up on the two year mark from the last months of the last year we had new devices on Gingerbread come out. Once we hit April/May of 2014, we'll see the two year mark for the early adopters of the first major ICS phones.

Within a year we can expect Jelly Bean and above to start crushing the market share of older versions, and by that point whoever is left on 2.3 or below is there because they either can't get a newer device or don't really want to.
