Military exercise reaches Freeman Field

A small group of soldiers with the Kentucky National Guard moved into Freeman Field at Seymour for eight days this week.

The 64 members of Charlie Company of the 1st Battalion, 376th Security and Support Aviation element of the 63rd Aviation Brigade, Frankfort, Ky., have joined more than 5,500 personnel from all branches of the military from 27 states and territories participating in Vibrant Response 13-2.

The purpose of the operation, which is centered at Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, is to test the readiness of units to respond to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear disasters. The operation, conducted by Army North, began Tuesday and ends Aug. 17.
